What is a family session like?
A family session is a personalized experience with a relaxed pace. This is a "core memory" kind of session, a date night out so to speak, genuine moments = connected, personal images, & memories will be made!
Preparation
Outfit planning make your head spin? I'm here to assist, from styling guidance to location planning. (you even get my #!)
Your Photo Session
I'll guide you through activities and poses, you get to focus on loving your family and having fun together. Photos taken will include both portraits (look and smile) and candid (fun and games!)
If you have littles, be ready for some active play and snuggles!
If you have teens, I'll make it easy, I am familiar with this crowd; and also be ready to give each other a bit of a hard time (in a good way!)
Memories
After your session you get a digital gallery of 50+ beautifully edited images (typically ~100)!
Multigenerational Family Portraits
when everyone gets together!
Half (or more!) of my family session bookings are multigenerational (also known as extended) families! I have a session flow that includes both portraits (all the combos) plus group-friendly activities for a light & easy experience with candid moments. I understand the photos you want from this time, and I am here for you!

Locations- While there are many nooks and crannies in our beautiful PNW, I intentionally curate my locations for the best photos and experience for you!

Short & Sweet Sessions
These sessions are reduced time and price, perfect for couples, smaller families, Christmas card photos, and if you frequently get pictures and just need a simple refresh. They are offered on specific locations, days & times.

receive & relive
In 3 weeks you'll receive a beautiful online gallery filled with images to download, print, and enjoy for years to come; album will arrive 3 weeks later.
Note from Courtney:
Outdoor sessions take place 60-90 mins before sunset and are about an hour.
I know you want beautiful images like you see on this page, including "the one" that is displayed front & center in your home. I wholeheartedly appreciate you trusting my location options, styling, & timing recommendations- and am excited for the moment you get to open your gallery!
FAQ
Can we choose the location for our photo shoot?
After finalizing your booking, I'll send over my location guide! It includes need-to-know info about each location so you can quickly narrow down which options suit you best.
What happens if rains?
If the weather doesn't cooperate on the day of an outdoor shoot, we will discuss alternatives such as rescheduling the session or finding an indoor location.
Rain does happen! Most often it works out.
Fine print
Prices are subject to WA state sales tax. Prices are subject to change and are non-negotiable. Rate honored once your session is booked.
If the client cancels the contract prior to the session date or fails to show up for their session for any reason, all monies paid shall be retained by Courtney Holcomb Photography in order to offset loss of business.
Holiday rate may apply on holidays and holiday weekends.
Images are delivered in both color and black and white
All digital images (jpg form) include a print release assigned to the client. Courtney Holcomb retains the rights to all images.
Credit cards accepted. Retainer due upon booking, balance due before your session. Inquire about a payment plan.
